Hi, I'm Chris.....
.......and I would love to share my Surfing Destinations Collection with you.

''I surfed around both Croyde and Woolacombe bays for many years before the kids arrived. Now I'm introducing these places to them and the pictures just make us want to keep going back..... Thanks Chris.''
Mark.
Chris's art just puts me right in that place, he captures more than the look of the place; he captures the feeling. Loving my prints.
Steve S.
I'm loving these prints, what a great idea to have something that even I, as a student on a tight budget can afford.
Dee.
What a few happy collectors have said....
I'm a landscape and seascape painter. I love being outdoors in all weathers soaking up what it has to offer my senses.
I have climbed and walked in the mountains, surfed in some magnificent locations and drawn inspiration for all manor of paintings.
The beaches of North Devon are amongst the best in the country.
In this series I wanted to revisit some of the beaches that I've surfed and pull together a collection that might inspire in others the memories and feelings that I get when I'm there.
The memories aren't just those of the surfer either...... hot sunny days, the kids playing in the sea, picnics on the beach, an evening fire on the beach as the sun goes down... there are so many.
From the dunes at Woolacombe, the bay itself looking across to Morthoe and around the coast to Saunton Sands, these places evoke a sense of calm, of exuberance, of freedom and of peace.
Painting each scene has allowed me to get out with my paints, get set up and immerse myself in the landscapes I love.
I hope I have communicated the sense of beauty and aw I feel in these places, and hope you will enjoy owning these 'windows on the beach'.

The Surfing Destinations Collection was inspired by Chris's love of surfing and the beautiful beaches of North Devon in which he now lives with his wife Pam.
The original paintings were all painted 'en plein air', 'alla prima': on the spot in the outdoors, all in one go.
They were painted in oils on stretched canvases of varying sizes.
Now the prints of the originals are ready for you to have in your own home, to bring that 'window on the beach' to whatever room you choose.
''So how come you're giving almost 70% off your A5 prints?''
Good question; well presented.
I would love you to have a piece of my art in your home, maybe even gift a piece to a friend or relative for Christmas or a birthday.
I feel that a piece of my art with such a significant discount might be a great way for you and I to build a relationship because you share the same love for the outdoors that I do. At only £4.95 with FREE post and packaging I think I'm offering a piece of art that suits any budget. It enables folks to at least try me out; try my work out on your wall.
I hope you will get as much joy from having one of my pieces of work in your home as I do creating it.
I would also like to think that, maybe one day, you might be looking for just the right statement piece in your home, or for a gift for a loved one and you'll find your way back to my website, maybe even order one of my original paintings.
Whatever the future may bring, right now I would simply love to share my work with you.

Surfers, Woolacombe Dunes
The sun was high and it was late in the afternoon. The light was dazzling on the waves and the surfers became little more than silhouettes trudging up the hot, deep sand of the dunes.

The Last Wave, Saunton Sands
Just one lone surfer left in the evening, waiting for that last wave to finish an epic day.
Saunton Sands, just around the corner from Croyde Bay has always held a special place in my heart. The massive, never ending beach and the choice of waves has always made it special.

Woolacombe Bay, Start of the Season
It's early season at Woolacombe Bay. A few surfers are in, the RNLI have training on the beach and the sand is looking pink in the muted glow of weak, new season sunshine.

About Chris.... briefly.
Originally living in Oxfordshire Chris studied at Berkshire College of Art, Reading in the mid eighties and holds a BA (Hons) degree in History. He is an artist and painter based in the coastal countryside of North Devon near Woolacombe Bay. He paints with oils, using canvas or board as his painting surfaces.
Chris conceptualises each painting as a journey, from the germination of an idea, to discovering the perfect subject. Working on the development and fulfilment of meaning throughout his compositions, each painting undergoes its own personal passage. Perhaps his notion of ‘journey’ encapsulates Chris’s own journey in life.
‘I love to paint subjects that allow the viewer to get involved, to imagine the space, to fill in the gaps of action and participation, and even to try and guess what might be behind a sand dune, a boat, or a building, that isn’t discernible from the creation on canvas. I am inspired by the outdoors, by music, by history, and by the great romantics of our past.’
